Harlem’s free summer jazz series is still going strong: the West Harlem Summer Jazz Festival, presented by the West Harlem Arts Alliance, Harlem Late Night Jazz, and NYC Parks, runs May through September across Morningside, St. Nicholas, and Jackie Robinson parks, plus a weekly Saturday series in Montefiore Square through August. The next marquee date is Friday, August 28, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on the James Baldwin Lawn in St. Nicholas Park (135th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue), featuring Captain & The Nu Gypsies. It’s free, outdoors, and open to anyone — no tickets or registration, just bring a blanket. If you miss it, the series runs on a steady rhythm: St. Nicholas Park hosts fourth Fridays at the same lawn, Jackie Robinson Park first Fridays at the Bandshell (148th Street and Bradhurst Avenue, ADA access at 150th), and Morningside Park second Saturdays from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at 113th Street and Morningside Avenue.
