Under The Canopy — A Free Black August Sanctuary in Prospect Park

Under The Canopy is a free outdoor ritual in Prospect Park this Black August, organized by the Dominicans Love Haitians Movement. It’s a three-hour gathering of ancestry, spirit, and community care for Black and Afro-diasporic people — built on the history of maroonage, when ancestors made sanctuary in the margins with whatever the land provided. You leave with a collective spiritual bath.
