Saturday’s best free option is a pier, a DJ booth, and the harbor. Papi Juice returns to Pier 6 Plaza at Brooklyn Bridge Park for the last dance party of the season — four hours of daylight, two hours of sunset, no cover.

It’s the kind of event that gets described as a “party” and then turns out to be mostly people sitting on blankets eating takeout while the music plays. That’s the appeal.

The details

  • Saturday, Sept. 19, 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Pier 6 Plaza, Brooklyn Bridge Park.
  • Free. The park asks you to register in advance through its booking page, but there’s no cover charge.
  • DJs: Papi Juice as guest curators, with Public Service (Toribio & Mickey Perez) and Nídia.
  • Last dance party of the season at the park.

What you can bring

  • Food and non-alcoholic drinks for a picnic — yes.
  • Glass and outside alcohol — no. Snacks, soft drinks, beer and wine are sold at the on-site bar by Fornino.
  • Pets — no. Leave them home.
  • Chairs only on the pavement; lawns are blankets and soft cushions only (no hard-bottomed chairs, wheelchairs excepted).
  • Restrooms and water fountains with bottle fillers are on site.

Getting there

  • Take the subway, bus, or ferry. Parking near the park is very limited and metered, and there’s no stopping on the Loop Road between Piers 5 and 6.
  • The Ferries land near Pier 1 if you’d rather come across the water.
  • It’s an outdoor event and it’s weather-contingent — check the park’s alerts page or socials before you head out.

The park runs its summer programming on a shoestring and this is the season’s closer, so it’s worth catching while it’s on the calendar. Go early enough to claim lawn space, stay for the sunset, and expect to be on the subway home by 11.
