NYC Parks runs a sprawling free concert program every summer, and this year’s calendar is live with 98 events from August 13 through October 25. Every borough is covered, and most shows require nothing but showing up.
Here are the highlights for the next two weeks:
- Golden Hour at Greeley Square Park (Aug 13, 6:30 PM) — Americana, jazz, and indie acts in Midtown. Curated by keystone cultural partners.
- Queens Jazz Trail: Wallace Roney Jr. (Aug 13, 7 PM) — Archie Spigner Park, Queens. Part of a summer-long jazz series.
- Tramps Like Us — Bruce Springsteen Tribute (Aug 13, 7:30 PM) — Forest Park Bandshell, Queens. The #1 Springsteen tribute band.
- Piano in Bryant Park (Aug 14, 12:30 PM) — Ragtime, stride, and jazz on the Upper Terrace. Repeats every Tue–Fri through the summer.
- Bryant Park Picnic Performance: New York Guitar Festival (Aug 14 & 15, 7 PM) — The NY Guitar Festival takes over the Bryant Park lawn both nights.
- Summer on the Hudson: Fly NYC (Aug 15, 12–5 PM) — Pier I, Riverside Park South. Music, free kite kits for kids (while supplies last), and kites filling the sky.
- Jazz in the Park at Ralph Ellison Plaza (Aug 16, 2–5 PM) — Community jazz concert with local musicians and vocalists.
- Big City Folk in Greeley Square Park (Aug 17, 6 PM) — Singer-songwriters showcase hosted by Niall Connolly. Free, no cover.
- Just Sixties Concert (Aug 18, 6:45 PM) — Cunningham Park, Queens. The longest-running 60s tribute band in the USA.
- Hippo Playground Summer Concerts (Aug 19, 3:30 PM) — Riverside Park, Manhattan. Family-friendly kids’ concert series.
