Free sunset music in Greeley Square tonight, San Gennaro’s 100th feast opens on Mulberry St, Reservoir’s free performance piece opens uptown, and tomorrow brings the first new art opening in a month plus ten days of free garden programming at the LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival — six of eight items free.

Live Music

• Golden Hour at Greeley Square Park — tonight Thu 9/17, 6:30–8:30pm, Greeley Square Park (Broadway between 32nd & 33rd): free, no ticket — the Parks sunset series, with Americana, jazz and emerging indie acts curated by keystone cultural partners.
• Festival of New Trumpet Music (FONT) — still on through Sun 9/20, and tonight is the NYC double bill: Kal Ferretti’s Big Band feat. Ingrid Jensen 7pm plus Akili Bradley 9pm at The Jazz Gallery (1158 Broadway, 5th fl), $33. The rest of the week: Sat 7pm at Nublu (151 Ave C, $22 — Cole Kamen-Green + AANI) and the finale, Volker Goetze Quartet, Sun 7pm at The Cutting Room ($32.99). Friday’s FONT bill is at The Statuary in Jersey City, so the NYC run is Thu/Sat/Sun only.

Art & Performance

• Reservoir — opens tonight Thu 9/17, also Fri 9/18, 6:30pm, Barnard Movement Lab, 3009 Broadway (Morningside Heights): free, advance RSVP required, donations welcome — María José Contreras’s lecture/theatre/testimony piece on Santiago’s water supply, the retreating Andean glaciers and the dictatorship-era water code that privatized Chile’s water. Part of the Citizen Arts Festival.
• Live Sex Acts — opening reception Fri 9/18, 6–9pm at Times Square Space (timessquare.art), then Thu–Sat noon–6pm through Nov 15: the first fresh dated art opening to surface in about a month. Photographs and artworks by Vivienne Maricevic, Scott Ewalt and Alix Vernet on the sex clubs, peep shows and adult theaters that lined the area from the late ’60s to the mid-’80s, and what happened when they went away. 18+, explicit imagery and mature themes; no price listed, check the site.

• Feast of San Gennaro — day one is today, Thu 9/17, then daily through Sun 9/27, Mulberry St between Canal and Houston plus the Hester and Grand blocks, Little Italy: free to walk the street — the 100th edition.
• LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival — opens tomorrow, Fri 9/18 through Sun 9/27: 50-plus events in 30 Lower East Side community gardens, every event free — music, poetry, puppets, film, theater, workshops and art in the gardens neighbors built and still tend. Saturday’s garden slot includes free jazz from Rocco John & Ras Burnett, 3–4pm at 11BC Serenity Garden (E 11th St at Ave B/C).
• Queens Night Market — opens Saturday 9/19, 4pm–midnight, in the lot behind the New York Hall of Science, Flushing Meadows Corona Park: free entry — 100-plus independent vendors plus small-scale cultural performances, then every Saturday through Oct 31 (7 train to 111th St, four blocks south; most stalls cash-only).

Film

• Critics & Filmmakers: Godfrey Cheshire & Alex Winter — Mon 9/21, 7:30pm, IFC Center (323 Sixth Ave, West Village): one night only — the critic and the writer-director-actor (Bill & Ted, Zappa) talk careers, filmmaking and the changing job of criticism, illustrated with clips, tied to Cheshire’s new collection Cheshire on Film: Life and Writings.
