The Space Lady plays a free East Village garden set tonight, FONT’s festival week carries through Sunday, Reservoir runs Thursday and Friday, San Gennaro opens tomorrow and Queens Night Market opens Saturday — six of eight items free.

Live Music

• The Space Lady with Nina Ryser — tonight Wed 9/16, 5:30–7:30pm, 6BC Botanical Garden (East Village): free, no ticket — the outsider street-performer set presented by Mississippi Records and 360 Record Shop.
• Side by Side: A Community Singing Gathering — Fri 9/18, Queens Plaza Studios, LIC: free, details and RSVP on Luma — warm-ups, then the song learned together by call-and-response; this month it’s “Memories” (Maroon 5). No singing experience, no sheet music, no audience.
• Festival of New Trumpet Music (FONT) — still on through Sun 9/20: the free Sun Ra lecture-demo is done, but the week keeps going with $20–33 sets — The Jazz Gallery 7pm Wed (Skylar Tang Quartet / Miranda Agnew, $33) and Thu (Kal Ferretti Big Band feat. Ingrid Jensen, $33), The Sultan Room Wed 7:15pm ($20), Nublu Sat 7pm ($22), Cutting Room finale Sun 7pm ($33).

Art & Performance

• Reservoir — still on Thu 9/17 and Fri 9/18, 6:30pm, Barnard Movement Lab, 3009 Broadway (Morningside Heights): free, advance RSVP required, donations welcome — María José Contreras’s lecture/theatre/testimony piece on Santiago’s water supply, the retreating Andean glaciers and the dictatorship-era water code that privatized Chile’s water. Part of the Citizen Arts Festival.

Festivals & Markets

• Feast of San Gennaro — opens tomorrow Thu 9/17, then daily through Sun 9/27, Mulberry St between Canal and Houston plus the Hester and Grand blocks, Little Italy: free to walk the street — the 100th edition.
• Queens Night Market — opens Saturday 9/19, 4pm–midnight, in the lot behind the New York Hall of Science, Flushing Meadows Corona Park: free entry — 100+ independent vendors plus small-scale cultural performances, then every Saturday through Oct 31 (7 train to 111th St, four blocks south). Cash is still king at most stalls.
• Queens United Women’s Market — Sat 9/19, 1–6pm, on the 31st Ave Open Streets (Astoria): free to browse — women-owned vendors, with apple cider donuts, vegan lamingtons, Jamaican rum cake and chocolate bonbons among the stalls; pairs well with the Astoria farmers market the same weekend.

Film

• L Train Movie Club: free screening of the original Street Fighter — Sun 9/20 at Talon Bar (Bushwick): free — hang out from 6pm, film at 6:30, timed to the new Street Fighter release; the club’s usual bar-screening setup, no RSVP mentioned.
