A free, mostly-outdoors Monday: the Parks free-concert week opens with Big City Folk in Greeley Square 6–8pm, Bryant Park’s 33rd movie season closes with Shakespeare in Love at 8pm, and BYO Book holds the year’s last outdoor reading on the LIC waterfront at 6:30. Rest of the week: The Space Lady in a hidden East Village garden (Wed), a free Yiddish music night at SummerStage (Thu), San Gennaro’s 100th feast opening on Mulberry Street (Thu), and Art Is Alive’s dance week running into Saturday’s block party.

• Big City Folk in Greeley Square Park — TONIGHT Mon 9/14, 6–8pm, Greeley Square Park (32nd–33rd & Broadway): free — the Monday-weekly singer-songwriter showcase, hosted by Niall Connolly; walk-up, no ticket, one stop from most midtown trains.
• ShoutHouse ft. J. Hoard + Amanda Barise — Tue 9/15, 7pm–midnight, Nublu 151 (East Village): $22, 21+ — nine-piece genre-fluid band running hip-hop, jazz and orchestral arrangements into each other with flute up front.
• The Space Lady with Nina Ryser — Wed 9/16, 5:30–7:30pm, 6BC Botanical Garden (East Village): free, no ticket — the outsider street-performer set presented by Mississippi Records and 360 Record Shop.
• New York Sings Yiddish: Passing the Torch to a New Generation — Thu 9/17, 7pm, SummerStage, Central Park (Rumsey Playfield): free — National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s big-tent night, musical director Zalmen Mlotek leading YidLife Crisis, Yair Keydar, Riki Rose and Daniella Rabbani; this is the show that got rained out on June 22, rescheduled into the fall slot.

Festivals & Cultural

• Feast of San Gennaro — opens Thu 9/17, runs through Sun 9/27, Mulberry St between Canal and Houston (plus Hester and Grand blocks), Little Italy: free to walk the street — the 100th edition: eleven days of stalls, music and the Grand Procession, and the first big festival of the fall.
• 10th Annual Art Is Alive Festival — through Sat 9/19, 506 MacDonough St, Bed-Stuy: free, donations welcome — the 7pm class tonight is Jeffrey Page (Mali); the week runs Djembe/West African (Tue), Haitian (Wed), West African (Thu) and Senegalese (Fri), all 7pm, into Saturday’s noon–7pm block party with Asase Yaa’s 25th-anniversary dance theater, the Brooklyn United Marching Band, Farafina Kan and an interactive salsa class with Cory “Nova” Villegas.
