Bryant Park runs a staggering amount of free programming every week, and this Thursday (Aug 13) is a microcosm of what’s on offer. The final Broadway in Bryant Park of the season headlines the lineup, but there are eight other free events happening in the park today alone — and most of them repeat weekly.

Today’s (Aug 13) free events in the park:

  • Broadway in Bryant Park (12:30–1:30 PM) — The lineup features Book of Mormon, The Great Gatsby, Heathers: The Musical, and Heated Rivalry. Lawn opens at 11 AM. Enter at 41st St & 6th Ave at the Fountain Terrace.
  • Juggling Class (noon–1 PM) — Free lessons, all skill levels. Equipment provided. Repeats Mon–Fri year-round.
  • Art Cart: Drawing Architecture (2:30 PM) — Free themed art workshop. The Art Cart is open daily 11 AM–7 PM April through September with free drawing and craft supplies.
  • Sing-A-Long with Dan Manjovi (2 PM) — Free piano sing-a-long on the Fountain Terrace.
  • Mah Jongg Social (3 PM) — Drop-in mah jongg games, equipment provided.
  • Muay Thai (6 PM) — Free martial arts class. Recurring weekly.
  • Writers Workshop: Essay and Opinion Writing (6:30 PM) — Free literary workshop at the Reading Room.

Most of these programs run on a recurring schedule — the juggling class is every weekday, the Art Cart is daily, Broadway in Bryant Park was every Thursday (summer series now ended), and fitness classes return week after week. No registration, no tickets, no membership — just show up.

Bryant Park is at 40th–42nd Streets between 5th and 6th Avenues. Everything is within a few minutes’ walk of each other on the lawn, Upper Terrace, and Fountain Terrace.
