Barclays is praising BetRivers for promotions that make customers feel they win more often and keep them gambling. Matthew Waters reports that analyst Brandt Montour initiated coverage of parent company Rush Street Interactive with a favorable stock rating. His explanation connects the perception of winning to more play and more revenue per customer.

Montour credits rewards beyond the underlying bets or slot spins with increasing customers’ sense of value. He says that perception leads to a “higher rate of game play” and what he believes is likely the industry’s highest online-casino retention. Those are an investment analyst’s assessments, reported by an industry trade publication, rather than independently measured effects on players.

The financial appeal extends beyond keeping customers around. Montour estimates that BetRivers attracts a particularly large concentration of slot players, whom he describes as higher-margin customers. He puts the company’s promotional rate at about 19%, against 25% across the industry. Together, he argues, that customer mix and lower promotional rate produce more net revenue per customer. Feeling rewarded and receiving a better financial outcome are separate claims; the article provides evidence of the analyst’s commercial reasoning, not a comparison of customers’ net results.

Waters reports a 10.4% U.S. online-casino market share for Rush Street despite its much smaller sports-betting presence. Montour also sees legalization as a growth opportunity: he estimates that another percentage point of the population gaining online-casino access could raise North American revenue by 7%, assuming the company maintains its share and his revenue-per-adult estimate holds.

That puts product design and state expansion in the same business model. Promotions encourage repeat play, while legalization supplies additional customers. Players fund casino revenue through their aggregate gambling losses. The report supplies no estimate of addiction, debt or household harm, but it does show why investors value a design that makes continued gambling feel rewarding.
