DeepSeek opens its model-serving software

DeepSeek publishes the software that runs its model — Developers can inspect and adapt DeepInfer to run DeepSeek’s Flash model on supported server hardware.

The Apache-2.0 code supports DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash, constrained JSON output and overlapping CPU scheduling with device work. It includes offline execution examples and performance-test scripts.

Supported hardware is NVIDIA SM100 GPUs or Huawei Ascend 950 processors. Prerequisites include Linux, GCC 13 or newer and Python 3.12, plus CUDA 13 or CANN 9.2 respectively.

Published tests use four SM100 GPUs for prefill, the model’s first pass over a prompt, before it writes anything. Answer generation uses 64 GPUs in one tightly connected group.

A complete service still needs infrastructure for the KV cache, a model’s stored working memory for a prompt. Request routing and separation of prompt processing from answer generation also remain integration work.

Reproducible sampling requires a fixed per-sequence seed, batch-invariant mode and disabled variable-length drafting. Batch-invariant mode is NVIDIA-only.

Caveat: Building a hosted service still requires additional infrastructure, and the supported hardware excludes ordinary consumer cards.

Agent frameworks & tooling

Munin lets research groups question papers on their own servers paper notes → — Its released software includes tests you can rerun after changing the model or paper collection.

An agent is a model running a multi-step task with tools. Munin searches papers, reads full passages and attaches citations to its answers.

The harness is the software around a model that runs its tools, files and commands. The Apache-2.0 repository combines Docker Compose, Qdrant document search and a Neo4j citation graph.

On 199 literature questions, Qwen3.8-27B answered 87.4% correctly with the full system, versus 38.7% unaided and 21.1% with five retrieved documents.

That full-system result permits web access. Blocking outbound requests lowers the same model’s accuracy to 66.3%, separating local-document usefulness from outside help.

You supply a model through an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The reference setup uses two RTX 5090 cards with 32 GB each and a 68,500-paper collection. All groups share access to that paper collection.

Caveat: A fresh installation starts with an empty collection, so the published accuracy depends on rebuilding the relevant corpus and evaluation setup.
(arXiv 2610.23480)

Superlite builds from a spec with fewer approval stops — The plugin is worth testing when you already know the requirements and want independent coding tasks to run together.

DeepSeek releases an updated Flash model

DeepSeek updates Flash with downloadable weights and better coding results — Developers get a concrete alternative to test in coding assistants, with integration details to check before switching.

An agent is a model running a multi-step task with tools. The October 17 release is available through DeepSeek’s app, website and API, alongside the downloadable weights.

Hugging Face lists 763 billion parameters. The MIT-licensed model accepts a context of one million tokens, making the complete model far larger than a typical desktop deployment.

A benchmark is a fixed set of tasks for comparing models. DeepSeek reports Terminal-Bench 4.0 success rising from 31.2% to 42.3% against the previous Flash version.

DeepSWE 1.1 success rises from 74.2% to 77.0%. The harness is the software around a model that runs its tools, files and commands. Terminal-Bench uses Claude Code; DeepSWE uses Mini-SWE-V2.

The release omits a Jinja chat template. Its Python reference and deepseek-recipe toolkit handle prompt formatting. The local execution guide describes reference software; production serving needs a separate engine.

Caveat: These are DeepSeek’s own test results, and its claims of faster completion and shorter answers still need checking on your workload.
